چکیده

Abstract Ailanthus altissima is an aggressive invasive tree worldwide, but the ecological factors that lead to spread of this species in Mediterranean ecosystems are still unclear. Here we aim identify such factors, focusing on interaction human activity with climatic conditions. We determined occurrence and abundance 240 sites studied their relationship 20 variables representing climatic, geographic, topographic as well land use, region Campania (southern Italy). Overall, found temperature rainfall suitable for , only major constraint being at altitude exceeding 900 m a.s.l.. unable where mean annual lower than 11.1 °C. By contrast, precipitation showed poor correlation distribution, suggesting selected study sustain growth tree. About use variables, roads were primary landscape feature along which invaded new areas. Roads probably combine high propagule pressure favorable growing conditions terms available resources i.e., light, water, mineral nutrients, allow establish roadside edges different ecosystems. In conclusion, climate human-associated correlated current more influential elevation road distance playing a prominent role low

A New Canthinone-Type Alkaloid Isolated from Ailanthus altissima Swingle.

The present investigation of the chemical constituents of the stem barks of Ailanthus altissima has resulted in the isolation of six canthinone-type alkaloids, including a new compound, (R)-5-(1-hydroxyethyl)-canthine-6-one (1), and five known compounds (2-6). Moreover, four phenyl propanoids (7-10), two lignans (11 and 12), two triterpenoids (13 and 14) and a fatty acid (15) having previously ...

Kestrel-Prey Dynamic in a Mediterranean Region: The Effect of Generalist Predation and Climatic Factors

BACKGROUND Most hypotheses on population limitation of small mammals and their predators come from studies carried out in northern latitudes, mainly in boreal ecosystems. In such regions, many predators specialize on voles and predator-prey systems are simpler compared to southern ecosystems where predator communities are made up mostly of generalists and predator-prey systems are more complex....

Biological flora of Central Europe: Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle

Ailanthus altissima (tree of heaven), Simaroubaceae, is an early successional tree, native to China and North Vietnam, which has become invasive in Europe and on all other continents except Antarctica. It is most abundant in urban habitats and along transportation corridors, but can also invade natural habitats. This paper reviews the literature on the morphology, distribution, ecology, habitat...
